Drug haul case: Vijender Singh gives blood, urine samples to NADA for dope test

Ace Indian boxer Vijender Singh on Wednesday gave his blood and urine samples to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for tests for consuming drug .

Days after Punjab Police claimed that the Olympic bronze medallist had consumed heroin 12 times, he appeared before NADA to give his samples for tests. He, however, did not give his hair sample, as sought by the Punjab Police.

Vijender had earlier refused to give his samples to the Punjab Police saying they were biased and trying to frame him in the drug scandal case.

The development comes after the NADA showed reluctance in conducting dope tests on the star boxer saying it was not of much use. The Union sports ministry had directed the agency to conduct the tests on Vijender.
